Yours truly,
Matt Kauble,
President of the Cerritos Republican Club
P.S. As far as other opportunities for political activism:
On August 28th, the California State Tea Party Patriots are planning a march on Sacramento. If you want to get involved or get more information go to www.sac828.org
---
There is also an opportunity to have a potential impact on the Obama Healthcare plan, due to members of Congress holding Town Hall style forums within their districts. Already groups like ACORN, the Teamsters, and SEIU are planning to pack out these meetings in the hopes of making the argument look one side and over. There is concerted effort amongst the Tea Party Patriots and the Republican Party of Los Angeles County leadership to provide a counter balance to make these members of Congress think about the ramifications of the content in the final bill on the country and on their own legislative career.
From the Tea Party Patriots, here are a few tips for attending Town Halls:
-Don't bunch up in the audience so if one of you gets removed the whole group isn't broken up.
-Ask your question assertively but respectfully and after you have asked it let the representative speak. If given enough rope they will hang themselves with their own words.
-If they don't answer the question or instead run around it, repeat the question. If they will not answer it, walk out. It seems they really hate that and it shows your disdain for the answer. It really does make an impression.
-Bring your cameras and video recorders and film the event.
-Don't let anyone goad you into being hostile, remember we come in with our dignity and integrity and we leave with it, they probably won't.
-Don't be afraid to ask the tough questions, you know this stuff better than they do, (quite possibly) so use the facts.
Follow the hyper-linked for some information from the Republican Party of Los Angeles County on the Health Care Debate
Here are locations and dates of upcoming Health Care Townhall Meetings:
On August 21, 2009 at Korn Hall at UCLA from 10:00am-12:00pm, Rep Henry Waxman is holding a Town Hall meeting. While it is invitation only, the Tea Party Patriots are planning to hold rallies outside and nearby.
The Tea Party Patriots are not affiliated with the Republican Party, although on fiscal and liberty matters they tend to believe as most of us do. Some of the leaders are registered Republicans, many are not and therefore many are hostile to certain Republican leaders like Anthony Adams and Abel Maldonado as well as to any perception that Republicans are trying to hijack their events as both San Diego County Chair Tony Krvaric and CRP Chair Ron Nehring found out first hand. My advice, show up be respectful, look for your openings to find common ground and get them thinking towards supporting local and statewide Republican candidates. If no openings exist just establish the relationships.

On August 14th, the Tea Party Patriots are organizing a statewide protest at selected Congressional offices. As of today Rep. Linda Sanchez is off the target list. I have been asked if we can get over the next four weeks a stream of constituents walking into her office, faxing her office, and calling her office on this one issue. Her office is located in Cerritos at 17906 Crusader Ave, Suite 100. Her district office phone is 562-860-5050. Her district office fax is 562-924-2914 . Arm yourself with the facts (link from the Republican Party of Los Angeles County found above) and get like minded neighbors, friends, co-workers, and family members to help in this effort to create a steady stream of constituents walking in to talk about in a civil and respectful (if not at least visably restrained) manner. You may only get one of her aides, that is O.K. just make sure they write down your concerns. The constant flow of constituents armed with the facts pressing for changes so that final bill is not a government takover of our medical care or anything close to that, but actual reform, might be enough to get her to start complaining to her colleagues of this new tactic, which could get some of the Blue Dogs and other moderates to come off the fence onto our side of the argument.
There will be protests held on
-August 14th at Diane Feinstein's Westwood office located at 11111 Santa Monica Blvd. near the corner of Santa Moncia & Wilshire Blvd. From 4:00 to 7:00 PM
-August 21st at Jane Harman's El Segundo office which is located at 2321 E. Rosecrans Ave, Ste 327, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.
Last but not least, on Saturday, September 5th from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. Assemblymember Tony Mendoza is holding a "Labor Day Family BBQ" at Heritage Park to sell the public on AB 943, that supposedly "will remove barriers to employment". It is a good opportunity to publicly question him in a respectful manner on the legislation he has authored or voted for that has raise the fixed costs of businesses and individuals and has driven jobs out of existence or to other states.
