Monthly Newsletter
Greetings!
Flag Thank you for your continued support of the Cerritos Republican Club!

We know you have many choices for local news and information and we hope you enjoy reading our newsletter. We strive to bring you relevant information without bombarding your mailbox.

We will be holding our next meeting on December 8th at 6:30 PM in the Skyline Room of the Cerritos Library, with our entertainment being the Women's Ensemble from New Life Community Church.  Our Master of Ceremonies will be State Assemblyman and U.S. Senate candidate Chuck Devore.  And our special guests will be the Marines from the 1st Combat Engineers battallion.  Those who have not RSVP'd with Janice Dawson will have to wait until all of our guests who have made their reservations are inside as we have ordered a limited number of extra dinners over and above our final number, that we have submitted to the caterer. Remember bring new, unwrapped toys for the children of the Marines of the 1st C.E.B. to the meeting.
Christmas Dinner Announcement
USA Flag Dear Friends,

Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 8th at 6:30 PM in the Skyline Room of the Cerritos Library.  This will be our annual Christmas dinner catered by Marilyn Christianson.

Dinner menu: Waikiki chicken breast, tossed salad, waldorf salad, green beans, rice pilaf, candied carrots, rolls, and cheesecake
Cost: $20 for singles; $35 for couples

The Women's Ensemble from New Life Community Church will entertain us with their performance of Christmas carols and songs with handbells.

State Assemblyman and U.S. Senate candidate Chuck Devore will be our Master of Ceremonies.  Chuck has been campaigning all over the state for the past year for the seat currently held by Senator Barbara Boxer.
Go to http://chuckdevore.com/donate/video.asp to see his campaign's latest video on why he is running for this office.

Our special guests for dinner will be the Marines from the 1st Combat Engineer Battallion based at Camp Pendleton.  We have sponsorships for 34 Marines and family members. We have confirmed with the Commandant that because of deployment schedules and other contingencies, 24 are confirmed as comming; 19 Marines, 4 wives, and one child. (This may change as we get closer to the date, so we have reserved enough extra dinners for 10 more marines and family members, just in case.)

The total number of guests attending the dinner will be more than 100 and we will be using all of the Skyline Room for the dinner.

In this holidy season, we would like to help bring some Christmas cheer to the children of the Marines of the 1st C.E.B. Please bring new, unwrapped toys for children of all ages to our Christmas dinner.  These toys will be given to the children at the 1st C.E.B.'s own Christmas Family Party.

Please join us at our annual dinner.  I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Janice Dawson

Club President's Message
Cerritos RC LOGODear Friends,

This last Thursday, the county Registrar's Office had a meeting of Treasurers from around the county to inform us of recent changes made by the legislature to state law and to get our feedback on how to make their office more user friendly as the state is requiring the county to do more of the ausiting functions previously done by the state.  The handful of Republicans in the room consisted mostly of folks who work out of their homes or are of a voluntary nature (Waldo Arballo who is possibly the most knowledgeable Treasurer in our area and is among others Don Knabe's & Carol Chen's Treasurer operates out of his home with his son and daughter in-law acting as his employees/business partners), compared to the Democrats and PACs who were represented mostly by big law firms or professional Treasurer firms with several dozen to several hundred clients and owned by folks like David Gould (who showed up with 3 lawyers in tow) or Kindee Durkee (who sent some lawyers on her behalf). This may be the reason these laws have become so darned complex over the years, because as incumbents can generally afford large firms set up for this sort of complexity, while challenger candidates tend to have a family member or friend do it for them, not knowing what legal pitfalls may await them down the road.  (This is one reason why finding someone willing to take on the Treasurer duties is a difficult, but necessary endeavor.)

Next, I want to publicly thank the work put in recently by Janice Dawson, Barbara Lockwood, John Ekman and Ken Husting in recent months on behalf of the club.
-Janice has really stepped up and gone beyond the call of duty in helping set-up this year's Christmas Party, if you have RSVP'd remember to come, bring new, unwrapped toys for the Marine's kids and remember to thank her for the work she has put in.
-Barbara is putting together the membership renewal mailer members will be receiving next week, but she has also been someone who in recent months has aided me in carrying out my duties as club President by calling board members and club members when I have had too many irons in the fire which for the past few months has been a regular condition.
-Last John and Ken have stepped up to help us in filing certain paperwork that the certain local, state and federal government agencies require of us.  As these demands have become more complicated, the time needed to be spent keeping us in compliance has increased. (As former Treasurer of this club and for two prior campaigns, I know first hand how complicated the law has made the reporting of political expenditures and receipts as mostly Democrat lawyers who get wealthy off of greater complexity are the ones writing and passing these laws.)
So as you see these four individuals in and around the community just thank them for the work they have been doing on behalf of the club.

Last this coming Tuesday, December the 8th we will have State Assemblyman Chuck Devore, who is running for Barbara Boxer's seat in the US Senate, be our Master of Ceremonies.
We are in the process of contacting other candidates for statewide office as guest speakers in the coming months and will let you know of them as we confirm their details.  If you wish to help our Programs Chair Allen Wood in getting guest speakers or help with the set-up for our meetings contact Allen below and join our program committee.

Yours truly,
Matt Kauble,
President of the Cerritos Republican Club

P.S.  If you are reading this and are not a member of the Cerritos Republican Club you can join by contacting Barbara Lockwood, our membership chair by email at barbie562@aol.com or calling her at 562-926-7069.  To join you must be a Registered Republican in good standing.

This December our club board has taken on a charitable challenge for the first time in our clubs history and we thank each who have and are continuing to help us in this endeavor.
At the Christmas Dinner we plan to collect new unwrapped toys for the children of the Marines of the 1st C.E.B. Both of these actions are not just for public relations, but are one way where we can put our policy of private charity and our smaller government values to work in our local community.

Last announcement the 56th AD Republican Central Committee is in the process of putting together our precinct operations.  If interested in participating please contact either myself (email: mskauble@hotmail.com; phone 562-743-1855) or Roger Garrett (email: mrupac@aol.com; phone: 562-843-1251).
Next Meeting
The Next Meeting of the Cerritos Republican Club is scheduled for Tuesday, December 8th starting at 6:30 PM in the Skyline Room of the Cerritos Library. We will be collecting new unwrapped toys for the children of the Marines of the 1st CEB.

This is also our annual Christmas dinner, if you have not already made your reservations for the dinner, we have ordered extra dinners but you will have to wait until all of our guests who have made their reservations have entered the room.  As this is also our Christmas time Fundraiser, we will charge the normal fee of $20 for singles, $35 for couples.
