Dear Friends,
Last weekend's Community news was filled with pro-Democrat propaganda. The most blatant and off-based article was the editorial written by nice guy Charlie Ara, who probably believed every word of it.
First, yes much of the Republican Party backed Schwarzenegger for Governor in the 2003 recall, however a large number of conservatives backed Tom McClintock telling the rest of the party that Schwarzenegger couldn't be trusted. In 2006 Angelides, scared a large number of those who had backed McClintock to end up supporting Schwarzenegger for Governor and McClintock for Lieutenant Governor as a ticket; McClintock came up short.
As for not having adequate funding for education (and a host of other services), look at who has controlled the state legislature since 1958. With the exception of two less than 2 year stints, the Democrats haven't just lead but have dominated both houses of the California legislature passing regulations and taxes that drive jobs and businesses either out of the state or existence. Republicans generally support less tax and regulation burdens, while even today our Democrat legislators view free parking and private insurance as hazards for society's health, by evidence of 2 recently passed job killing bills heading to Schwarzenegger's desk.
As for Jerry Brown, I guess Mr. Ara forgot that when Jerry was governor, he & his Democrat dominated legislature had screwed up the state's economy (by growing the size of government and raising taxes) and public safety (through lax enforcement of laws) so much that the voters elected conservative George Deukmejian to replace him. Today as Attorney General, he joins the State Legislature's Democrats in diminishing California's revenue base, by using his office to "progressively" interpret environmental laws going beyond extremes already in the law to force local governments to raise taxes (i.e. San Bernardino County) and to drive out of state or existence a number of small businesses that would have been paying taxes and employing taxpayers in California today.
As far as protecting higher income people, it's interesting how many multinational corporations and super wealthy elites have funded California Democrat candidates and incumbents promising larger, more intrusive government, via both direct donations and/or "non-profit" foundations, so their smaller competitors won't survive underneath the burden of too much government; and therefore not challenge their position as an industry leader. Recently, the State of Nevada had their top business recruiter on the Jon & Ken Show telling how the state can attract new businesses and retain the businesses still here, he proceeded to tell them because of who controls our state legislature those things will never get done. He uses our high taxation and regulation burdens to aggressively recruit jobs and businesses away from California; and Nevada isn't the only state or nation enticing struggling businesses to leave for greener pastures, taking future tax revenues with them (80,000+ businesses lost to other states or nations in 2009).
I love this state and have had enough. Have you had enough yet?
Yours truly,
Matt Kauble,
President of the Cerritos Republican Club
