Dear Friends,
The liberal mindset of some politicians' reasons only the force of government can solve any given problem, even if that force removes away God-given rights enshrined in our nation's Founding Documents. One such politician is Congresswoman Linda Sanchez. Before Congress Linda's background started working for the ACLU, then the IBEW union, followed by a leadership position on the Orange County Central Labor Council. She is a member of the House Progressive Caucus and an Assistant Majority Whip, sitting on the House Judiciary and Ways and Means Committees. Her major pieces of legislation have centered on combating bullying; HR1589, HR1966, and HR2262. She and her friends when pushing their solutions to bullying/crime make the analogy of two people walking along a riverside when they see a number of babies floating downstream. The cop jumps in and acts as a catcher trying in vain to save who he can. They place themselves as the other person, who goes up ahead to stop the madman from throwing more babies in. Unfortunately, the analogy breaks down because these pieces of legislation don't address why some students bully, instead they remove First Amendment speech and association rights for all students. So the madman in the analogy isn't stopped. HR1589 plays the strike and amend game where a law that already violates First Amendment rights is expanded, while not addressing what goes on between the ears. HR1966 basically makes it a felony to offend someone online; the law actually says "whoever transmits in interstate or foreign commerce any communication, with the intent to coerce, intimidate, harass, or cause substantial emotional distress to a person, using electronic means to support severe, repeated, and hostile behavior, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both." If you didn't catch that it basically says the person offended gets to determine both your intent and if you committed substantial emotional distress to them. HR2262 plays the same strike and amend game as HR 1589, basically insert in school policing provisions. Again not addressing what goes on between the ears. On the health care problem she again reverts to this form. Instead of backing legislation that would have provided incentives and removed obstacles that stand in the way of lower costs, she backed HR3962 that mandates a whole host of things, without really solving the problems endemic to the system. For example, it increases the basic costs of small businesses by requiring them to buy health insurance for their employees or pay into their local state government run Health Insurance Exchanges, while not addressing the reasons the cost structure that makes health insurance unaffordable to most small businesses. And while it does give a tax credit to some small businesses, they don't get to realize the credit until after they paid out the premiums, which may end up driving them out of business beforehand. Hopefully, as a new mother, Linda will come to realize that her sort of legislation only removes rights. If she and her allies don't realize this, every liberal bit of their legislation will continue to remove our rights, not solve problems and hurt us all.
Yours truly,
Matt Kauble,

This November and December our club board has taken on 2 charitable challenges for the first time in our clubs history and we thank each who have and are continuing to help us in these endeavors.
In November our club members, donated 39 cans and 2 boxes of food to donate to the Family Help Center in Artesia. They directed us to give the food directly yo the two church food banks they have been working with since they no longer have a physical address. Those two churches are Holy Family Catholic Church and New Life Community Church, both in Artesia. Given this direction our board via several phone conversations between myself and each board member decided to follow the advice of the Family Help Center.
At the Christmas Dinner we plan to collect new unwrapped toys for the children of the Marines of the 1st C.E.B. Both of these actions are not just for public relations, but are one way where we can put our policy of private charity and our smaller government values to work in our local community.
Last announcement the 56th AD Republican Central Committee is in the process of putting together our precinct operations. If interested in participating please contact either myself (email: mskauble@hotmail.com; phone 562-743-1855) or Roger Garrett (email: mrupac@aol.com; phone: 562-843-1251). |
